Daryl deserves some more than Shane! I’ve really grown to like Daryl. Team Daryl, all the way!
I am absolutely in love/lust with Daryl.
I think Shane and Andrea are good for each other. Maybe now that they’ve gotten laid, they’ll STFU and settle in a little. I LOVED Andrea last season. This season, I just haven’t been able to stomach her bitch-whiny-big-mouthed-ness.
I will say that even though I HATE what Shane did to Otis, it had to happen. First off, why else would they take a fat guy through the zombie gauntlet? Sure, he knows medical equipment, but damn, so does Maggie. And she’s quick and smart. I wish that Otis had actually sacrificed himself though. He did seem to be THAT guy… And I don’t see guilt in Shane as much as I see him inching closer and closer to a psychotic meltdown. Can you go postal during a zombie apocalypse? Would you call it something else? I think he’s the one in desperate need of some antidepressants and anti-psychotics.
Daryl is sexy (under all the sweat and dirt and squirrel guts) he’s really just HOT because he is geared to get shit done and not be such a girl. I love him. I want him to get LAID right and I think he and carol might actually be a good fit for each other. They both need the same things…someone to respect them AND take care of them.
And can I just say, Sophia needs to be found. She either better be in the barn or she better be with Merle or Morgan or with some lord of the flies gang of non-zombies somewhere… for serious.
I totally saw the barn thing coming…and I get WHY they think of them as just sick. But damn, Herschel is one brick shy of being crazy and he’s creeping me out. I am hoping that Maggie almost getting killed and then getting reattacked by the damn near detached-headed walker will give her some perspective that she can share…
Whoa! The balls on Dale, huh? He knows Shane is all kinds of fucked up and STILL starts shit…and over a piece of ass! I guess the old dude assumed she was his, since he “gave” her a second chance?!
Shane will kill Dale, no problem, just like Otis.
Sidenote: I saw “Otis” in Natural Born Killers, playing a cross-eyed prison guard.
I foresee Shane finding Sophia, or taking credit for it, and getting to bang Carol, as that’s the exchange rate of pussy on this show. Something horrible is gonna happen soon, because nothing happened this episode. I wonder if Maggie knew the beheaded walker’s name too? I bet Dale gets it, next…what do you think?
I think Dale sees Andrea as his daughter. He took the sisters under his wing. They became friends. He never had a chance at a having a kid of his own… etc.
I really like Dale. He’s very much the Sauron’s Eye of the group–except he wants to protect them. He sees himself as the fatherly figure…they keep bringing up his age because they see him as experienced, too. BUT the group isn’t really willing to allow him to use his experience except when they ask for it.
The next one to go…I just don’t know. I’m hoping it’s not any one of the group that’s left. Even Shane. I can’t stand him, but he is good for tension and for the psycho-side of no BS this is what needs to get done, suck it up you pussies. Daryl is the same…only not so crazy. They are good reflective characters…
Am I the only one that hopes Daryl does NOT end up with Carol? It’s not that I’m jealous or anything (I am), I just don’t see it (also I’m jealous).
I too saw the barn thing coming – but I didn’t think there would be a shit-ton of them in there! I thought maybe one walker, two tops… not the goddamn crazy undead Herschel family reunion (did they ever mention is surname?). My fiance and I have a pact: in the event of the zombie apocalypse, if one of us is bitten – we’ll blow the other’s head off. That’s true love right there.
I was just reeeeally weirded out by the Morning After plot because that’s not how that pill works, and it seemed like a quick way to shoehorn in, “Oh, if Lori doesn’t want to be pregnant, we need to close off the options for that and fast.” Herschel should have some veterinary books that Lori could sneak up on. There are plenty of herbs and plants (many that will fuck your shit up, admittedly) that “induce labor,” and would be in nature guides to the area under “this will kill you do not eat it.” Plus, plenty of OTC drugs(which will also fuck your shit up)’ side-effects can cause miscarriages/reproductive issues, and are actually popular because of that.
And I know it’s too late, but this would have been a great moment for someone to have an IUD.
Idk. It was presented as a hugely dramatic subplot, and while I get Lori might not have known all of that, it’s still imaginary drama because even if she hadn’t vomited, she’d still be pregnant. Now, if she’d kept the pills down (fun fact: that many hormonal pills will actually make you vomit unless you are practiced in the art of holding down nausea), she and Rick fought, and then she started to show a few months later, that would have been interesting.
Also, I hope Sophia’s in the barn, just because of how Maggie trailed off in naming their pet zombies. I wouldn’t mind the plotline going unresolved, just because kids go missing all the time and it would be an interesting nod to the real world (sort of– she wasn’t kidnapped or anything), but I doubt they’ll go that route.
I’m re-watching this episode now and I’m struck a second time by how much I love Dale. Not that he’s perfect (I agree with Andrea that he took away her choice at the end of S1) but I love that he knew just how to handle it when Glen spilled the secrets about the barn and Lori. I love that he protected Glen from Herschel and his farm family by pretending that he stumbled across the barn full of walkers on his own, but that he told Lori the truth about Glen blurting out her secret (which I believe Dale did because he knew Lori cares about Glen and wouldn’t hold it against him, whereas he suspects Herschel’s reaction to finding out might be extreme.)
I think Lori’s initial instinct to do what she could to end her pregnancy was the right one (or maybe I just think that because it’s the one I would choose under those circumstances.) Not convinced that the pills she took and then purged would have succeeded, though.
