  1. I missed the last 5 minutes! But who cares! Paul, dear sweet Paul.

  2. Thank you for recapping the season! That was heaps of fun.

    • I really enjoyed this season. It honestly seems like they find more talented chefs every year. It makes me wonder where the peak is… Even some of the eliminated chefs made just gorgeous food. I’m ready for smell-o-vision like I was promised by Disney all those years ago…

  3. I had to turn the show off for a minute when Barbara started suggesting sesame seeds and whatnot and Paul was all “I’ll think about it” because I was terrified he was going to be bullied out of his vision. After calming my hyperventilation, I turned it back on only to find Paul sticking up for himself and being his regular polite, gentlemanly self and doing his food his way.

Phew, that spike of adrenaline called for a beer so I asked the mister to pour me one and for him to join me because I needed someone to cling to. Sarah’s pasta sounded phenomenal and so did her dessert. Everything Paul made was right in my flavor wheelhouse and I could have that congee dish breakfast, lunch and dinner for months. There can never be enough uni in my world. There was hand clutching right up to the announcement.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Paul rocks. I am so glad he took it all. He didn’t play this game like it was a season of Survivor, he played it like he was Top Chef. Now he is. His dad is still crying and every time they meet eyes Paul bursts into tears, too. I love it.

Sarah is home right now making sous-vide pickled beets and crying because they are perfect. Tyler Stone’s ego wouldn’t allow her to take any suggestion he made seriously and I don’t blame her. At the end of the day, she made some pretty terrific food. I’m still happy she lost.

    • OMG, I almost went into seizures there, too. DO NOT LET ANYONE BOSS YOU. And they were setting things up to make it seem like Sarah was easy sailing, which I KNEW was a red herring, but… I love how polite he is. LOVE. And you could tell that Barbara wasn’t immune to his charms, either. <3

Paul’s food made me so hungry, and I’ve had a head cold all week and NOTHING was making me hungry. He’s a miracle worker. I am so so happy he won. He clearly was the best man from the beginning, kind, thoughtful, and crazy talented.

Sarah seemed like she’d grown some – and her talent can’t be denied – but I, too, am SO HAPPY she lost. Insert “neener neener” right here. GO AUSTIN!

  4. I was over the moon that the humble, amazing chef won the food cooking contest. :D I watched the aftershow with Andy Cohen and it was really funny, Paul was a lot more relaxed and Sarah didn’t come off as such a raging bitch. Andy, in his usual in your face way totally called her out on her treatment of Bev and according to Sarah, they’re good friends. I knew a lot of the drama was played up in editing, but she did come off like a major bitch a few times.

Tyler Stone is one of those that I could’ve gladly never seen again. Not only is his attitude enough to make me want to smack him with my Ginsu, but he’s just so overinflated with ego that I wanted him to burn himself or something with the liquid nitro.

I freely admit that i probably wouldn’t have liked much on either judge’s menu, but it was certainly pretty to look at. My son asked me if the show made me hungry and I laughed. Nope, i’m a simple meat and potatoes girl, no sea urchin for me thanks but I can appreciate the skill and talent that both chefs displayed in creating their menus.

    • I watched WWHL, too (but I usually do, because I have a BFF-crush on Andy Cohen) and loved how Paul was a bit more relaxed, but still his sweet, humble self. And that Sarah was a Sarah I could get a drink with, too! I did like that they made a point of showing how she and Bev have no hard feelings.

Ha, I love that you’re a “meat and potatoes girl” and yet love a show about pushing culinary limits. That’s awesome. :D I would have licked my plate, if I’d been given either menu. Licked it, I say!

  5. Thought it was hilarious that Sarah went for the beets. Remember when Bev wanted to make a beet salad and Sarah was all, “Everybody’s using beets… they’re everywhere… beetsbeetsbeetsbeetsbeets…?” Yeah, well, she sure as hell wanted beets in the skiing-and-target-shooting challenge and she used them here and she couldn’t use them! And I get her not wanting to use something she’s not comfortable with, like sous-vide technique, but WTF? Sous-vide is so common that I have a home water oven for it. She couldn’t just say, “Thanks for the suggestion, but I’m going with my original plan.” And I’d bet money she and Bev aren’t besties. She’s just figured out that everybody noticed she treated Bev like crap.

SO relieved Paul won. And DH was sitting there saying, “I hope Paul gets it.”
