  1. I have a few half-thoughts about the elevator. When it first happened, I thought for sure we just saw Megan die – all the elevators in the building failed and she plummeted to her death. I think it has to do with death, just not in an obvious way as I was thinking lol. If someone wasn’t paying attention, they could have just walked right into that death trap. I dunno, I’m pretty convinced someone is going to kill themselves by the end of the season. All signs are pointing to Pete, but Weiner and his Brain Trust of writers aren’t that obvious in their foreshadowing ever and I think all this build up around Pete is leading to something else. Maybe the death of Trudy? After all, a few episodes ago when Pete was being all judgey about Don not cheating on Megan with the high-class hookers, Don said he thought Pete was happy and he made all of those mistakes once and threw everything away. He warned Pete not to follow in his footsteps. If Trudy comes to an untimely end, I think Pete will finally realize that he took it all for granted. Of course, a few people are thinking it’s Roger that’s gonna jump down the elevator shaft (or out the window in homage to the opening credits) because of the way he’s been acting after his LSD experience – making peace with those he wronged or hurt, throwing away money left and right – and Pete did say that the SCDP life insurance plan will cover suicide after two years.

And god, this episode made me hate Pete even more. “Why do they get to be in control?” Oh, Pete, did you forget that time you raped a woman? Because I’m pretty sure you had all the control in that situation, you oily douchebag asshole. Please let him be the one that bites the dust this season.

  2. Very interesting thoughts! You’re a veritable Sherlock Holmes. It would definitely be like Mad Men to sprinkle little clues throughout that won’t make any sense until after the season ender. I would cry bitter tears if Roger kills himself, and it does look like they’re setting it up for that. The show wouldn’t be the same without him, that’s for sure.

Haha, Pete is very hateable, isn’t he? He’s living the most unauthentic life imaginable, yet won’t do anything to fix it because of the expectations of others. That never ends well. Him raping that girl was the very first thing that popped into my head, too. He hates and yet needs women – and that’s how you end up with someone like Pete Campbell.

    • Oh god, I feel the same about Roger. I’ve had enough tv shows already ruin me emotionally – I don’t need to add another one! But I’m wondering why the hell there hasn’t been any interaction (on screen) between him and Joan. NEEDS MOAR JOAN.

My relationship with Pete is very complicated lol. I couldn’t stand him in the first season. Hated him. And then I got my fiance into the show, and he actually felt bad for Pete. So then I started to feel bad for him as the seasons went on. And then that turned into pity and again hatred. Damn, that’s good writing.

  3. She gives him a lesson on how to be insensitive after the body rush.

LOLOL! Jann Arden references for the win.

I missed this week’s episode, so thank you for this recap.
